CHAMCHI DUBU JORIM
Introduction
Chamchi Dubu Jorim is a simple yet flavorful Korean side dish made with tofu and canned tuna. The soft texture of tofu, combined with the savory depth of tuna and a spicy-sweet seasoning, makes this dish both satisfying and appetizing. It’s quick to prepare, pairs well with rice, and works perfectly as a daily banchan (side dish).
Ingredients
1 block tofu (300–500g) – Slice into 1cm thick pieces, then pat dry with a paper towel to prevent breaking and help the seasoning absorb.
1 can tuna (100–200g) – Drain excess oil.
½ onion – Sliced.
1 green onion – Chopped.
1 chili pepper (green or red) – Sliced.
Instructions
Layer the base:
Place the onion slices in a pan, then arrange the tofu and tuna on top.Add sauce:
Pour the prepared sauce over the tofu and tuna.Simmer:
Cook over medium heat, letting the sauce bubble gently so the flavors infuse into the tofu and tuna.Finish with vegetables:
Add the chopped green onion and chili pepper. Adjust seasoning as needed and let simmer briefly before turning off the heat.
👉 Optional: Pan-fry the tofu beforehand to give it a firmer, slightly chewy texture.
✨Tips : You can substitute tuna with pork, chicken breast, or other proteins. / If extra sauce remains, it’s delicious mixed with rice. The spicy, savory, and slightly sweet flavor makes it a versatile side dish.
